Today, I sat watching tv, when I noticed the squirrel that had been visiting me on my apartment window ledge, hanging out, watching me. I usually get him cheerios, and he eats them, while warily eyeing me, and my cats.
Today, was different. Today, he climbed on my window screen, which is not different, but then he clung to it, and started to pee. I sort of just stared in horror, while it sprayed through the screen, and onto my glass window...yeah, horrified pretty much covers it.
Anyway, in a spurt of finish it up-ness, I completed a pair of socks that I started for Socktoberfest, and, god knows how long this was on the needles for, Orangina. The socks, the lace pattern just was annoying me for some reason, so after I got back from my cruise, I didn't really touch it. A few weeks ago, I felt the need to knit, and I picked up the sock and finished it within a week, and cast on for the other the next day.
Pattern: June's Summer Solstice from the Sock Calendar.
Needles: Size 2 circular needles from KnitPicks
Yarn: Atlantis, from SunshineYarns
Thoughts: This was my first time using the two circs method, and I really loved it. I loved DPNs because it made me feel like a REAL KNITTER, but the two circs seemed quicker to me after I got used to it. I LOVE these socks. They're my first socks for me, and I love how they feel. I probably don't have much that matches them, but I don't really care. The colors made me happy, and they feel so nice.
Pattern: Orangina
Needles: Size 3 bamboo, switched to size 3 KnitPicks Options to knit a bit quicker about half way through.
Yarn: Brown Sheep Cotton Fine in Berry
Thoughts: I loved the lace portion, but the ribbing bored me to tears. I put it down with about two inches left, and only got back to it recently. I realized I only wanted another inch of ribbing, and not two, and I'm glad I made that decision. I made the 36 inch size, but used the armhole and ribbing from the 34 size (damn lung disease makes ME tiny, but gives me barrel back. CURSES!!). In the first picture, ignore the tiny bit of tummy showing- I'm wearing a skirt that doesn't fit (apparently in Old Navy sizing, I'm now a 2) and is extra low rise. Second picture has more accurate coloring.
Who knows when you'll see another finished object, but today sure was productive!
You look wonderful in your Orangina!!
