So, my posts have been pretty progress free lately. The reason being, my big project was to finish a crocheted afghan for some friends that are getting married next month, Dan and Katie.
They're doing something incredibly nice for me, by forgoing usual centerpieces, and instead donating the money that would have been spent on centerpieces to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. You have to admit, that's a pretty big thing to do for a friend at your own wedding.
So I set out to make them an afghan. And I finally finished it today.
Done in Caron Simply Soft, using a Leisure Arts book called Paula Vaughan's Plush and Pretty Afghans, pattern named Picnicking (like hell would I lay that on the grass outside! lol). I started it in early June, and in between some other projects, managed to finish with a little over a month to gift giving time.
Close up of the stitching:
This is pretty much the biggest project I've ever undertaken, and I'm incredibly happy with it. If I could magically make two, I probably would, but I'm not big on making the same thing twice, and I don't really have time with Christmas coming. Maybe some day. Till then, I'm thrilled I got this done, and can't wait to wrap it now.
Beautiful stitch pattern. It turned out great. I'm sure they'll love it!
